JBS Australia begins first certified organic meat program

The company launched the product in March for sales on the domestic market and distribution to the main international markets.


São Paulo, February 16, 2017 – In March, JBS Australia will begin processing its first certified organic herd, which will be sold under the new Acres brand. The meat will be produced at the Rockhampton plant in Queensland and will serve the Australian and principal international markets. For example, this brand will serve both the food service as well as retail sectors in the US.


“Over the past decade, we have changed our focus in order to develop even stronger brands that are more closely aligned with our domestic and international customers’ expectations. Our decision to launch an organic beef product will help us serve rising demand in this niche market and increase our international competitiveness”, said Brendan Tatt, commercial manager at JBS Australia.


Organic beef is produced on certified farms that comply with strict environmental and animal handling regulations. JBS has been producing natural/organic meat on its other global platforms since 2010.
