JBS COUROS ORGANIZES OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY TRAINING COURSE TO INCREASE TEAM MEMBERS
AWARENESS AND SEARA PLANT REACHES 12 YEARS WITHOUT LOST TIME
Last year alone, more than 135 thousand Team Members from many of the Company’s global operations underwent occupational safety training
Safety is non-negotiable for JBS and a very important issue at every one of the Company’s global operations. In line with this global mandate, the JBS Couros factory in Barra do Garças, in the state of Mato Grosso, held an occupational safety training course focusing mainly on not using accessories or mobile phones on site.
The course, based on practical demonstrations, showed participants that mobile phones not only distract us, these devices, alongside jewelry and accessories, can also make it difficult to operate equipment.
The training course was held last month, at the beginning of each shift, covering the vast majority of staff at the plant. The project was also supported by the SESMT (Specialist Safety Engineering and Occupational Medicine Service) serving the factory. All plant managers were also involved to spread the message as far as possible.
There were also talks about safety, work gymnastics and a dynamic that simulated the use of chat apps while at work to illustrate and reinforce the message.
Also in July, the Seara factory in Salto Veloso, in the state of Santa Catarina, celebrated 12 years without any accidents requiring time off work in its pre-operational hygiene sector. Plant teams held a ceremony to thank everyone for their commitment to the issue.
The Santa Catarina plant’s achievement underlines how important this issue is for the Company. JBS invested over R$ 300 million in Team Members welfare and safety in 2018. The Company’s health and safety management approach complies with global principles and each of the operations has specialist teams to address the issue, with staff responsible for risk mapping and organizing projects and activities, such as training courses and educational initiatives.
JBS monitors its safety indicators every day and carries out periodic performance analyses so any necessary steps can be taken quickly as possible.
