The recently concluded acquisition of German equipment means the Company will achieve
100% control over another production line
Sao Paulo, October 1, 2018 – JBS Embalagens Metálicas has just purchased a range of equipment that will further the raise the bar for the Company in the aerosol segment. The investment means the Company will have 100% control of its main production line serving this niche market, which will ensure higher quality, faster output and better cost control. This will subsequently reduce the risks inherent to the business.
“With this new equipment, we will start producing the can dome and base in-house, as we do in other for other segments we manufacture for”, said Marcelo Jorcovix, director of JBS Embalagens Metálicas. In addition to consolidating fully integrated production for this type of packaging, the machinery can handle up to twice the Company’s current aerosol can capacity.
The new lines imported from Germany have been manufactured and tested and are set to arrive in Brazil in September. They are expected to be fully operational at the Lins (SP) unit from November.
JBS Embalagens Metálicas has been investing in employee training to make sure staff are able to operate the equipment. Two staff spent a month in Germany with the supplier on a specific training course. Back in Brazil, these two employees will operate the new lines.
JBS Embalagens Metálicas is already one of the biggest packaging companies in Latin America, particularly with its food packaging for vegetables, tomato-based products, coffees, dairy items, conserves, heart of palm, fish and other products. The Company beat its previous record in the first quarter of the year, making 170 million cans.
The additional investment in the aerosol line reflects the Company’s ongoing focus on innovation. “The company is constantly looking at new opportunities and supporting ongoing investment in cutting edge technology and development. “We expect to be producing 1 billion cans a year and believe the aerosol segment will have a big hand in helping us achieve this target” said Jorcovix.
