The event will be held at the local Friboi plant
São Paulo, August 13, 2019 – Around 1,500 animals will be assessed during the 11th stage of the Nelore Quality Circuit at Barra dos Garças (MT). The stage will take place on August 15 and 16 at the local Friboi plant. The Circuit is organized by the Brazil Nelore Breeders’ Association (ACNB), with support from the Nelore Breeders Mato Grosso branch, Friboi and Matsuda Sementes e Nutrição Animal.
Gustavo Callejon, technical advisor at the ACNB, explained why the initiative is such a crucial tool for assessing animals, the production system and animal handling. “These assessments provide the producer with detailed information on animal age, weight and carcass fat covering. This helps achieve the standard the slaughterhouse is looking for, providing better returns for breeders and higher meat quality”, he said.
“The Nelore Quality Circuit is also a tool to support genetic improvement for this breed, another of the issues which is assessed during each stage”, said Breno Molina, president of the ACNMT. “Nelore is the most important breed in our state and Brazil. The Nelore breed is a strong currency in our economy”.
“Friboi is very pleased with the results we have achieved to date. The 2019 edition, the first one we are supporting, is set to be the biggest ever Nelore Circuit”, said Fábio Dias, Friboi’s Farmer Relations director.
